# Community events in Central PA

I am new to the forum. I joined looking for events for my 8 yo son who is newly diagnosed with T1D. I didnt find anything on the events section. Are there other resources to find events for kids? I heard sbout camps, I wondered about other events. Thank you!

Hello @RaeMeals welcome to Breakthrough T1D. There is a western and central PA chapter I found by googling “JDRF events central PA” and it takes you there. The Breakthrough website is still a little misaligned after the name change from JDRF, as you can imagine it is a little complicated.

Most of the events are fundraisers where you make a walk or run team and get sponsors. It is a great opportunity to network with other families in your area.

I grew up in one of those tiny places in PA that was so small I had to say NE of Lancaster to locals. If you are within a couple of hours of Pittsburg and still need help finding something for your son let me know, I know two doctors there who can ask coworkers to ask coworkers if they know of something closer.
