Medicare Part B/Advantage Plans for Dexcom and TSlim Coverage

The c-pep test can be a requirement for pumps considered DME, currently tubed pumps, covered by Medicare Part B. Your Omnipods will be covered by a Part D or the pharmacy benefits of a Medicare Advantage plan. In the case of Part D plans that require a PA for Omnipods I have yet to find any that publish their criteria. The way things are today a Part D plan without a PA requirement for Omnipods should cover the pods with just a prescription.

Medicare Part B diabetes supplies don’t require prior auths. It is one of the things that makes a government health plan bearable. There’s still a lot of paperwork that means you should place your first order that’ll be paid by medicare the day after you receive your last set of supplies paid by commercial insurance. Most of the responsibility for this going smoothly is up to the people working in your docs office. Gary Scheiner says brownies are appreciated in his office, might work for others.

BTW - does Medicare coverage start the day you turn 65, or the 1st of the month after (or that month)? I’m sure that’s available online but I figured asking here would be quicker and easier

Dorie @wadawabbit, the first of the month after you apply, whether at 65, 68, 70, etc.
