I was first diagnosed in 1976, and was on various injections until about 3 years ago when I got my first pump. I have tried to live a active lifestyle. was a blackbelt in karate for over ten years but had to stop that because of time constraints, was a gym rat for a little longer. Currently I walk and try to average 8 to 10 miles every day day each month. Walking keeps me going and clears my head… i generally try to walk more than 20 miles at least one day a week( one day I did 35) I currently run a greenhouse for a local university and teach a c biology course or 2 each semester on top of my regular job…
With regard to my diabetes, sometimes in life I have maintained excellent control while others not so much. No bad complications as of yet although I have had some wild hypoglycemic experiences… I believe we all should take an active role in our treatment
