If you’re in a bind and having issues getting replacements, or can’t wait for arrival, you should be able to get something on your own. I’m not sure from the article whether they are the same ones we use.
Article is behind a paywall so I can’t read it. Are they talking about the Dexcom Stelo and Libre Rio? According the FDA 510(k) submissions the Rio is a Libre 2 and the only difference is it uses a different app. The Rio app doesn’t have alarms.
The Dexcom Stelo is a G7 that only talks to smart phones. The Stelo app receives updates from the sensor every 5 minutes but displays updates every 15. It also only displays values between 70-250 but records the full G7 40-400 mg/dL range. The Stelo app also doesn’t have alarms.
Neither is intended for use in making treatment decisions according to the FDA.
That is a good summary, Chris @spdif thanks for posting.
One thing might be added: the Stello 510(k) clearance state “for Type 2 diabetes”. In my opinion, the accuracy of the readings, the lower cost, and the convenient availability does make the Stello a good alternative tool for anyone with diabetes.
