That’s good to know - thank you for sharing.
@rpeyser47 I’ve been on the iLet pump since later 2023 and know this site is not close to an accurate assessment of this pump. However, it is clear that the author of this content either does not understand this pump or has a bias to another pump. I’m just not clear which one it is…
Ah, thanks. That explains a lot. I never pause for short or long activity; I expect the AIDS to do its job.
Profile - rpeyser47 - Community Forum ‘s comment above, well the link contains a set of conditions where I only meet one in the first group; I hate carb counting, but I meet every single one in the second, well, except for the hand strength; I tend to strip threads by hand.
Ok, convinced. iLet is not for me. It’s a pity, I really hate carb counting; fortunately AAPS doesn’t have a problem with that so long as I don’t overdo it.
I do, in fact, just enter small/medium/large for full meals (normally 1 or 2 at most a day) when I have them which is why iLet sounded good.
From what I’ve learned the fact that I couldn’t use generic catheters is a downer too; getting specialist highly priced catheters does not appeal to me, even if Medicare pays for them. (Medicare pays, I pay.)
BTW Profile - gmershon - Community Forum I’ve found with downhill that’s it’s fine with my system (G7+xDrip++AAPS) and xDrip+ will read out my BG into my ear fairly reliably so I can micro-correct if dropping. With crosscountry it would be a whole different deal; I haven’t done crosscountry seriously since starting to use a pump (let alone a CGM!) I did find recently that on the perhaps more conventional AIDS offered by AAPS I can drop my basal by a factor of two and AAPS has no problem handling that, as summer comes and I get more active I’m certainly going to remember that!
It’s been a while since I’ve updated here but the ilet is working out very well for me. My TIR with Omnipod was in the low/mid 70s while the ilet has not been below 80%. I won’t say I’ve never had lows but they level out around 70 and are easy to bring up. I have had some highs as well but generally not much over 200 and those were because I wasn’t sure how a mystery food compared with a typical meal. One of those sent me to the upper 200s which was concerning but it brought me back down on its own and did not over correct. I know people are concerned about lows and what to do. It is recommended that you let the system do is thing and that has worked well for me but let’s face it, you do want options. And pausing delivery is one.
I see my Endo in about 3 weeks and excited about the visit. At least one other doctor on her practice had a patient on the iLet but - once again - I am her first on this one.
