Lise @6yGodsGr, the update is fully available to all Tandem users with “in Warranty” pumps - may also be available for those with expired warranty. Of course, the phone must be compatible - check compatibility list on Tandem website.
To get the updated software you should use your Tandem Portal, plug in your pump and a list of updates for you will appear. Actually, you should check in at the Portal periodically to check your pump; there have been software updates designed for safety.
Hi! Love the Tandem closed loop system, but can’t tolerate any of teh catheters. Does anyone have any experience with that? Do you know of any other manufacturers that have infusion sets that are compatible?
I think Tandem’s sets are proprietary but I switched to Omnipod last year and I could be wrong or things may have changed.
Which have you tried and what is it you don’t like?
Hi, Dorie! Thanks! I’m allergic against all the Tandem infusion sets. Will take a look at Omnipod and also find out if the new Minimed blood glucose sensor works better than the other one…
Tandem and Medtronic use the same third party company to produce all their infusion sets. Which is why if my Tandem canula falls off early I’m able to use one of my old Medtronic infusion sets to replace the canula and have my Tandem tubing click right in. If you’re having a reaction to the adhesive they use, you’re not going to be able to use Medtronic, either. I don’t know about Omnipod. But what I would suggest is calling Tandem. They might know of a way to help.
Your post reminded me of when I worked in a call center. I was told that I could not have my phone on my desk, so I had to keep looking at my Tandem pump. Unfortunately, the people I worked with, including some of my managers, thought I was using a pager and even threatened to write me up for it!! Glad I am out of there!!!
Here’s a crazy thought: there are tapes you can get to go over your Dexcom. Assuming you’re not allergic to the them I wonder if you could use them as an underlay for your Tandem sets? There’s a hole smack dab in the middle where you could insert the set (tricky, yes) and I don’t know how wide they are but you could give them a try. If wrist came to wrist you could use them to keep your Dexcom in place.
I’ve been known for crazy brainstorming and repurposing so feel free to laugh if you like🤪.
PS - You can get a sample pod from Omnipod to try. It’s non -working of course but you could check out the tape and get a feel for the size.
