i was recently told i have t1d and i just want a biger team
Welcome to the forum Lexi! Howās the whiplash ride so far?
My name is Lise, Iām 16 and Iāve had T1D for 3 years.
This is a good place to get in touch with other T1Ds. If you want to meet people in person, Iād recommend getting in touch with your endos office to see if they have programs for teenagers. You can also check with your local JDRF chapter to see if they have events coming up.
Heyo! Iām Landen, Iām 15, only a few months I got this whole T1 thing, and usually from my experience thereās lots of people even locally that are type one that you didnāt even know of because of good control, so you never know whoāll be willing to share that with you that they are also type one if your open enough about it in trustworthy environments! Over all, this forum is also a great place, I get a lot of help and helpful tips on my research into different things Iām studying about type one and over all I feel like those who you interact with on here can be really good friends, I am sorry you had to be type one, but hey like I always tell myself, thereās not a better time to do it than now!
im glad we can be friends
Weāre in this whole thing together
hey,guys how are yall doing.
Hi everyone, Iām Makena or Kena im 16 and was diagnosed a little over 2 months ago. I would love to make more connections with filled my age with T1D. Thatās it! Howās everyone doing?!
Hiiii
Iām doing good. My spring break is next week and Iām so ready for it!!
Oh cool, kinda a late spring break for you? Or at least it is where I live! Mine was a couple weeks ago but Iām taking off a few days of school this week to go to Disney!
That sounds like so much fun!! Our spring break is pretty late. At least thereās an upside- the weather is usually better.
Oh yeah thatās good. Disney was rly fun but managing the blood sugar was a bit hard
I can imagine bgs would be difficult! Were you high/low a lot or just all over the place?
They were actually not bad. Ig what I meant was that the carb counting was hard because all the Disney restaurants didnāt have any carb counts. Weird right?!
That is really weird! They have enough visitors, more than a lot of chain restaurants, youād think theyād have some sort of website for nutritional information!
It was crazy. They literally had NOTHING! Also random question but ur name is so pretty, how do you pronounce it?
Lise is pronounced āLisaā. Not sure why my parents decided to spell it that way but I think itās fun
Thatās a bummer- Carb counting is not the hardest for me but definitely the trickiest!
We went out for lunch today and I got a club sandwich (why do they always add a huge pile of fries!?). I was too lazy to guess the carbs and just gave myself 10 u insulin and it worked, miracle of miracles. Donāt recommend that approach for obvious reasons but sometimes Iām too lazy and donāt care enough to try to do a bunch of mental math fractions and guesstimating.
Lol I totally get that approach! I like it, original name, I can kinda relate. Mine is pronounced the normal way Makena is pronounced but spelled the Hawaiian way. Iām not sure the amount of times Iāve heard āMakeenaā not sure why, not spelled that way. Sty little tangent!
Hey howās everyone doing?
Also, you totally donāt have to share, but does anyone have a social like insta or snap that you could share, just want to follow more people with T1D my age.
im sorry i havent been replying latly im going throwe some stuff but i dont i have email i have restictions on my phone.
