Hey! Question for anyone on the Omnipod 5 who stays active or plays sports:
How does it hold up during activity? Is it helpful, does it get in the way, what specifically do you like or not like about it? Any insight/advice would be appreciated as a fellow type 1 diabetic trying to stay active and manage blood sugar.
Hi @tlb_357 welcome to Breakthrough T1D. I use a different pump but some elements of pumping are universal. Have you pumped a long time? Were you using a different pump? I am very aggressive with insulin and my a1c is high 5’s to low 6’s Since I’m aggressive, I really need to be careful when I start exercising so I have a few tricks. After exercising I am very careful with basal rates until I am back to my regular metabolic rate. Anyway we do have a few folks using Omnipod but again there’s a few things that are common to all pumps.
Hi @tlb_357 and welcome to the forum. I don’t play active sports much but I do use Omnipod. If you’re concerned about it falling off there are over patches you might find helpful. I’ve tried the ones you can get with the devices but they’re clear, I find they can pull up easily, and when they do they catch dirt which I find looks nasty. I prefer Simpatches, which stick better for me. Longevity may be more of an issue with CGMs but if you’re a swimmer or play sports in the hot sun it could make a difference.
