Had a sensor fail on warmup if you look closely the introducer needle must have pulled the sensor out when it retracted. That left me without a sensor for 2 days because I didn’t bring a backup spare on vacation with me. Amazing that even though I have only been using CGM for a year or so, how fast I have gotten used to them… even though I learned diabetes control without a meter at all in the beginning. Anyway just a random failure for me these sensors have otherwise been terrific. Dexcom is sending a replacement.
Gee wiz, @Joe, for a guy who travels so often and then take a shout vacation without backup
I suppose that Dexcom asked you to return the applicator so that the long applicator needle [I always remove that thing before recycling] can be checked. I’ve found myself becoming dependent on technology after living for a couple of decades before the simple BGM.
It is ironic it was a short trip that got him . Another reason it’s good to know how to go old school.

haha @Dennis and @wadawabbit thanks for the laugh. Yes I should have brought one more backup with me! Dexcom only has a set script on their “support” page and while I did think they might want the applicator I just filled out the web-based form and that was all. overall my personal failure rate for G7 was nearly zero and yes when it failed on startup I was “caught” by surprise. all good, I can still feel my own BS!
