Hi everyone
I have been using a pump for almost a year now and still struggling with wearing it. I am quite small, so even a small pump (Ypsomed) feels quite bulky. I have tried getting straps/bands to wear on my body but they aren’t always comfy to wear for a long time.
@Eviegrace961, For sleeping I wear a insulin pump waist belt by Ziccga and find them to be very comfortable and would imagine they would also work to wear under your shirt during the day. I’m a male so I use my pockets 100% of the time during the day to store my pump. Found the Lulu Lemon pants have perfect pockets for pumps. Their pockets come with a mesh pocket inside the left and right side pockets where the pump fits in perfectly snug and doesn’t move around. Also hear that many women like to use the pump waist clip and clip it on their bra; unfortunately that is not an option for me…
I recommend placing the infusion site on your lower back and tucking the pump into the waistband of your pants. I have found that most leggings or yoga pants have a small pocket that is perfect for small pumps. I also really love using running bets designed for phones. They tend to be more comfortable and are washable.
@Eviegrace961 They are quite literally, a pain in the side aren’t they? I have a Tandem Mobi (it might not be available in your area yet) it is the tiniest pump I’ve ever used. I always have some form of pants on so I do use the belt clip. Good luck!
Clipped to my bra, clipped to my waist, in a pocket, or zipped in a Type Tank or SpiBelt during work out. It all depends on what I’m wearing / doing.
On the rare occasion that I wear a dress and it doesn’t have pockets I either clip it to the top of my boot, if I’m wearing boots, or attach it to my calf using an big elastic band with velcro sewn to each end.
I wear mine on an elastic /lycra-type belt around my waist. The pump sits inside the folds of the belt, there are not zips, or velcro or anything. I normally move it to my back, on the natural curve of the lower back. It usually goes unnoticed, depending on the clothes. If not, I turn the belt so the pump is on the front, on one side of my tummy. I bought my first lycra belt from diabete-ezy.com an Australian company. Then I realised they are very simple to make and I cut a few tight lycra tops and rolled them up and made several belts myself, in different colours.
Every discussion I read someone would mention baby socks make great pump covers that can be safety pinned in place.
Hi @Eviegrace961. A few things I’ve tried or seen over the years - as applicable
Tuck it in my cleavage (such as it is) - sports bras are great.
Bra pouches
Pump garters
Stashbands/ Running belts for the waist - I recommend ones that close with a clip - ones that stretch to pull over your head tend to fold over rather than lying smooth, at least if your body is not toned (I know this from personal experience)
Running band for the arm
I recently started on ilet and was told it would fit in the coin pocket of my jeans. I couldn’t imagine it would - but it does - and Ypsomed is smaller than ilet. That said it can be a bit uncomfortable depending on how I’m sitting.
Pump tubing comes in different lengths and longer ones will be better depending on what you choose.
