Omnipod App on Android failure today

At 2 AM on 5/21/25 I got a notice from my Omnipod App that my phone had changed and I could NO LONGER USE THE APP and had to REMOVE the POD. The APP froze, and I could not access my settings. Insulet says they are working on the problem but don’t know when they can fix it. Anyone else forced to go back to taking SHOTS of insulin and doing all their own math?

Shots are always my emergency backup plan. Did your phone update? Sometimes a phone software update can ruin everything. Tandem (I don’t have omnipod) recommends to disable automatic updates. Even so I have a backup emergency phone I can charge and use in case of a phone emergency. Sorry this happened it would be great if you posted the solution once you get one! :shamrock::peace_symbol:

Yikes! I have Omnipod5 and an iPhone. I just noticed software is available for iPhone now but I’ve been using the controller. Another reason companies should provide dedicated controllers. Can they send you one - free of charge?
Side rant - I hate having to reprogram settings manually. I’m good with technology but the menus are not intuitive so finding where to place them is tedious; and manual programming opens the possibility for user error.
As I recall from my days with Tandem the settings transferred when you switched pumps? Why not here: goodness knows you have to go through multiple confirmations when using the dedicated controller - they could put safety measures in place for this as well.
Hopefully they will send you a controller.

Thank you Dorie. I have a controller. What I don’t have is my settings. The error message blocks my seeing them. So frustrating.

Most of the settings are available in a report available to your doctor. https://www.omnipod.com/sites/default/files/Omnipod-5_Glooko_Reports_Guide_US_English.pdf I don’t know if Insulet support can access the report also but it is worth helping.

Recently some Omnipod 5 users reported a phone update caused them to loose mobile bolus for about a week. Thanks for sharing your much worse experience.

Are you doing okay with your backup plan or do you need resources like how to get a long acting insulin to use, buying syringes (depends on your state) etc. You mentioned calculating boluses, here is BreakthroughT1D’s list of apps that may help you get through this unexpected pump vacation. Thank you Chris. I am doing okay, I’m just upset with Insulet. I will ask my Doc if they can access my settings, that is a great call.

Thank you so much;

Matthew

I got to it. Thank you Chris!

I got my settings from Glooko, I’m good to go, but I’m mad at Insulet.

You were able to get the info yourself from Glooko? Could you please post where to find it since Omnipod’s documentation is out of date.

Same location you gave me, but I signed into Glooko. I signed up for it when I first got my pod. I selected the PDF report. The setting, at least the major ones, were at the bottom after some blank pages.

Matthew @kurtotic, it may be that it is too late for you now, but for future ease I suggest that you Print or Save Online your settings from the Omnipod data site. Clear instructions can be found in your User Guide.

Good idea. Thank you. BTW. insulet says the issue is now fixed.
