Yeah I totally will let y’all know how the pump goes. Yeah it’s hard to explain and I’ve never rly had issues surrounding food until now and my family rly teach my sibling and I that food is fuel and no food is bad in moderation so it’s hard to explain why I feel this way but I just do so I’m with u there. I’m glad u can allow yourself some fun foods again and I am rly going to try and work on it. Hope we can talk more here or maybe we could email back and forth. Also do y’all have a social media u can share. I don’t rly follow anyone that has t1d and is my age. If not that’s totally fine I get it I’m a stranger
Yeah my family is very similar! My mom taught me that food is fuel and that we should enjoy it but it is hard to do so when the food you used to love spikes your blood sugar.
My Instagram is brooklynn_calloway. It’s private so you have to request to follow me. In my list of following I follow a few t1d accounts if you want to look for more!
Ok great thanks! Yeah and I get it I’m like a super empath so I both understand where my parents are coming from and also know how I’m feeling about eating foods that spike me
Also I see that you follow a lot of ballet accounts. Do you do ballet or just enjoy watching it. I personally do ballet, through haven’t in a while due to diagnosis and then prior to that an ongoing injury so it would be rly cool (and also weird) if u also dance and we’re the same age and we have type one!
Food is the hardest part about T1D. It gets better after a while, once you’ve kinda figured out what works and what doesn’t… trial by fire! It’s TOUGH!
I don’t think there are any T1Ds who haven’t experienced ‘sugarphobia’. Makena what you said about baking totally makes sense! I don’t like to make things unless I can eat them without laying on the couch for a while afterward with a high. I’ve only recently started experimenting with eating muffins again. Not sweet per se but definitely carbier!
Yeah I think we should make up a phobia word for it like idk highphobia or something so it also kinda sounds like we’re scared of drugs lol
Hehe good idea. Highphobia could be applied to a lot of diabetes related things. Like pump failures or sickness. Are we thinking food specific?
Hypophobia sounds good but that would refer to low bgs. Hyperphobia??
Now I’m gonna be thinking about this for the rest of the day!!
Ok ok I see you. Hyperphobia sounds pretty good. I’ll keep thinking lol!
I used to do ballet in middle school but once quarantine hit I stopped doing it but I still love it!
Well now y’all have got me thinking! Hear me out, Glycophobia, the fear of eating too much sugar in fear of highs, I don’t know about anyone else but I get worried about it even when I holiday for sugary things
