Health plan changed to Caremark this year, I’m not a fan of their mail order pharmacy, new plan says I get 90 day fill from any in network pharmacy for the same copay. I gave Costco’s Mail Order Pharmacy a whirl for my first order of Omnipods.
- Took 2 calls to get my insurance info updated correctly
- The prescription disappeared from their website for a day while they were processing the order. I called about it and the script the rep was reading from was a nonsense answer.
- Took 5 business days from prescription receipt to shipment
- The website is the check a box to get a refill then charge the card on file model. I prefer shopping cart checkout type websites.
- Costco doesn’t ship refrigerated medications so their mail order can’t do insulin.
I received the pods but chose to transfer the prescription to a different pharmacy. My gut says they’d be fine when everything goes right or isn’t required to stay alive but trouble when something goes wrong. We all look for different things in a pharmacy so if you were considering Costco Mail Order hopefully this makes it easier to decide.
