Life Insurance

Apart from an employer based plan it can be hard to find life insurance coverage if you have Type1. In the past I’ve found small policies with limited if any payout the first couple of years but I just heard about one by Ethos and started an application online - it appears their coverage starts immediately upon payment of premium, which was calculated based on a few health questions. It asked about diabetes but did not specify what type, but (this may be scary) pulled prescription information to see what I take so presumably their system has taken that into account.

I have not committed yet - I’m writing this both to share, and to see if anyone has used it and if they recommend it. FWIW it is highly rated on Trustpilot and by the BBB, and customer reviews are reported to be positive although I have not linked to any online.

keep us informed Dorie, the topic is of interest! “google” thinks John Hancock has the best Type 1 diabetes program, which reportedly takes your A1c into account. I have life insurance from before diagnosis, and 2 policies (former employer and current employer).

Will do! And I will check out John Hancock - thanks for the suggestion!
