Hello -
We use FSL 2 with a reader (MDI). We are happy with this setup overall.
My question is for anyone with long term experience using the FS reader, do the readers have a lifespan? Do they “wear out”? If so were there any signs ahead of time to look out for?
We are not experiencing any problems. I am just curious should we need to be aware of anything.
Hi @bhawken27 the reader is, in some ways, similar to a cell phone. So they can drop and crack, fall in the toilet, get run over by a cement mixer, have screen issues, may fail to recharge, may lose the ability to hold a charge, etc.
The communication tech is NFC so a chip failure or other printed circuit board component failure could also kill the reader.
Other than gross failures, nothing wears out except the battery. Lithium batteries have a limited charge recharge cycle count. So imo nothing on the reader gets old except the battery.
